Diverse Hands Holding The Word Wellbeing

Technology and processes are usually top of the list when a business decides to look at optimising it’s operational capability. As much as business managers intellectually know that people are for most companies, one of, if not the major cost, there are still only a few companies who are seriously investing in the wellbeing of this precious resource.

Figures continue to be published everyday on the cost to UK industry of absenteeism and presenteeism, however this is often only part of the real cost to a business. Many organisations fail to look at the impact of poor staff engagement on their turnover, recruitment and training costs, as well as the added cost of agency staff to replace absent staff and costs of occupational health and other support services.
Surely up front investment by organisations into the wellbeing, health and fitness of their employee population, as they would invest in technology is a must, if organisations wish to continue to operate effectively and efficiently in these difficult economic times. Identifying the cost to a business of not only absenteeism, but all associated costs, should be a fundamental management dashboard in all sizes of business.
Caja Business Consultancy and 4Me Health and Fitness have collaborated to develop a set of dashboard measurements, which baseline current business costs, support the development of a business case, for organisations to invest in the wellbeing, fitness and health of their employees and then measures the benefits and return on investment. Both Caja and 4Me Health and Fitness, believe that investing in the wellbeing of employees, is a fundamental lever in managing the bottom line costs of a business, as much as creating investment plans for optimising other fundamental operational costs.
Can organisations make a leap, to investing as much in the wellbeing of their people, as they do in other core components?
