Are businesses too focused on major transformation when process simplification and digitisation of process workflows will suffice. All to often we see organisations embarking on major transformation programmes, which require large investment, the design of ‘To Be’ processes, implementation or upgrade of an ERP and adoption by all impacted stakeholders, all predicated on the delivery of business case benefits and ROI. Unfortunately, we also see many programmes failing to deliver the expected benefits.
Maybe it is time to question the large programme and focus on working with the operational resources to simplify and then use one of the many applications available today to digitise the workflow and interface where required, with other technologies. This would engage the staff from day one and hopefully see them adopting and adapting to more effective and efficient ways of working without what they may see as radical change.
